To continue the southern flavour here we have the cable tunnels, the backbone of the city. Miles and miles of wires, a pikies dream come true….and also a hasty way to meet their maker. Each of the red lines was marked with 11kV.

Then, a bubbling gurgling splashing sound erupts which can only mean one thing. The olfactory senses tingle shortly after. Oh God, indeed. I guess the cooling towers were going to have to wait for another night. For now all I could do was rip up pages of the control panel manual and throw them down to my good friend to recycle in the best possible way.
Guess that leaves one more mess for Tata to clean up.

Drain ghettoblaster worked perfectly. This is the ORLY junction in London. It serves as a connection between two systems of differing ages. Big thankyou to those who have worked so hard on the London systems and those who have been before. This trip certainly showed me how much endless walking occurs through these endless brick pipes in order to find features like this. Thanks to those who made the slog worthwhile

All credit to LittleMike for all the effort put in to find this drain and to Userscott for the ladders and tunes. While it’s not a large system nor particularly impressive it’s nice to have finally ticked this one off.

Sneaking around in the shadows, our egos were inflating by the minute. What possible stories could we over exaggerate from these experiences? The sharp summer night breeze consumed us. Would this be the start of something?
